We add Uganda to our classic Crane Wildlife Tours trips in order to see critically endangered mountain gorillas. But that’s not the only endangered primate we have the opportunity to see. We also include an optional hike to visit golden monkeys in their bamboo forest habitat. This little guy kept getting closer and closer to me and then eventually reached out and tapped the front of my lens. This image was taken just before the tap. Nikon Z8 with Nikkor 24-70mm lens (at 24mm) ISO 1800, f/2.8 at 1/1250th of a second.
What an amazing face. It is so expressive & so unique I’m not sure which feature to attempt to describe. You have yourself a beautiful wall hanger, Sean, & one that will surely always remind you of your special encounter. Methinks your protagonist gave your well-trained lens a golden tap!

Ha, thanks Sue. I think he might not have liked the shutter/aperture settings I selected and was trying to tell me something.
Awesome shot and what a cool memory. <3
Thanks Karen. It was one of the highlights of this trip.
What a delightful and curious little guy! A treasured encounter, for sure. Those beautiful golden eyes could break your heart.
