This one isn’t for everyone, so apologies for that. While in Kenya this summer we came across a pride of lions, including several young cubs, on a buffalo carcass. This particular cub was the boldest, getting right in there with the older lions. Eventually it crawled right inside the rib cage of the buffalo. Nikon Z8 with Nikkor 180-600mm lens (at 600mm) ISO 560, f/6.3 at 1/1000th of a second.

Boy this capture gives a whole new vision of a rack of ribs minus the barbecue sauce!
Omg. What an amazing, albeit gross, photo. I know nature will take its course, but the cub seems to be licking his chops!
Good job Sean
Dramatic photo, Sean, but you are right – it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Still, it brings home what it takes to be a wild kitty in wild country.

A hard reality
The Circle of Life in a bold close up. The little guy with his tongue out tells the whole story. Fabulous photo, Sean.
